Description
1954 Ford F-100 pick up truck used for sake: A Lovingly Restored, Lightly Customized Classic Truck
Classic Truck Restoration
is a 1/2 ton (5,000 GVWR max) pickup,
from the second year of the second generation of the F-100.
It has been mildly customized
in the course of an extensive restoration.
The truck rides on an original 1954 Ford frame
with a "Gibbon" front end kit,
a 1975 Plymouth Fury front suspension and disc brakes,
a 9" Ford rear axle,
the steering column from an '85 Chevy Celebrity,
a stock 1978 Ford FMX trans,
and a stock 1978 Ford 400 V8 engine
with 600 Holly carb and dual anodized aluminum exhaust.
The truck features #20824 front shocks,
and #20722 rear shocks.
It has a stock heater/defroster
with a 12 volt blower motor.
The A/C is a 1978 Ford A-6 compressor,
plus an ARA underdash condenser
charged with R-12 refrigerant.
We'd also be remiss if we didn't mention the
"Painless" wiring fuse box located in left kick panel,
or the Gates engine drive belts,
or, for that matter,
the electronic ignition module and voltage regulator
(located in battery box under floor on right side).
The wheels are American Racing AR 26's
with P225/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial TA's.
The paint is 1995 GM code #77 Dark Cherry Metallic
over a Dupont B921K Chromabase basecoat.
It's finished with a Dupont V7500S Chromaclear clearcoat.
Even its oak boards are redone.
Ford Trucks History
and would be Ford's first trucks to be built as trucks,
not as modifications to existing automobile chassis.
The second generation were larger than their predecessors,
and also sported improved chassis and engines.
Their nomenclature would also be different;
the F-100 had been known as the F-1
from 1948 to 1953.
The F-100 would eventually be
supplanted by the Ford Ranger,
although in an ironic twist,
the Ranger was discontinued in 2010,
and there are rumors that the F-100
is slated to be reintroduced.
But why wait?
You can get your hands on a classic right now,
and for far less money.
can put many cars and trucks
of more recent vintage to shame.
It's striking inside and out,
still running strong and turning heads
nearly sixty years after it first rolled off the lines.
Even the undercarriage is in phenomenal condition.
