More Luxury Cars Here
The Lincoln Continental originated as
a concept car built specifically for Edsel Ford,
who wanted a car with more rounded,
elegant lines than
the typically boxy offerings
available from Ford at the time.
This one-of-a-kind automobile
had a more graceful appearance,
and a soon-to-be-familiar
vertically mounted spare tire.
The car entered production in 1940,
and has remained in production
– with occasional interruptions –
ever since.
In its early years,
Lincoln did not often change its bodywork,
so its customers
– often the cream of high society –
were known to purchase additional Lincolns
with custom bodywork
for variety's sake.
Soon enough, however,
options beyond the usual
luxurious Lincoln touches
would be made available to customers.
A Lincoln buyer in the 1920's
could choose among
a nickel plated radiator shell,
varnished natural wood wheels,
Rudge-Whitworth center-lock wire wheels,
or Disteel steel disc wheels.
At a glance,
even the 2010 Town Car
would seem to have a skimpy options package.
Look deeper.
You'll find dual-zone temperature control,
heated and fully adjustable front seats,
ample, thoughtful storage,
extended rear park assist,
and all-speed traction control.
It's powered by a 239 hp V8
that's Flex Fuel capable.
And it's the first car in history
to earn five star safety ratings
in all categories.
When a car comes loaded
straight from the factory,
who needs options?
In short, you don't need to add to perfection.
It's easy to identify a classic in hindsight.
Certain makes and models
have become highly desirable to collectors
because their fit, finish,
and performance
set them apart
from anything else in their model year.
The 2010 Lincoln Continental
is another thing altogether;
it represents your opportunity
to buy a classic with foresight.
